Response to the Inquiry Report
The Government has issued the first of two responses to the Inquiry’s recommendations, with the next due by the end of May. The Government has accepted the 12 recommendations in the Inquiry Report in principle or in full. You can read the Government Response here.
Confidential support service
The Inquiry’s confidential support service provided by the British Red Cross team continues to be available. Over Christmas and New Year the service will still be available at these times:
- Mondays between 11am and 1pm
- Wednesdays between 7pm and 9pm
- Fridays between 2pm and 4pm
You can also leave a message at other times and the team will call you back as soon as possible.

Compensation: joining IBCA’s mailing list
We have been asked whether people who gave witness statements to the Inquiry will automatically be contacted about their compensation award. The Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA) is responsible for compensation. As a first step, you can register to join IBCA's mailing list to receive their newsletters here or by calling 0141 726 2397. You can find IBCA’s website here.
Compensation: eligibility of siblings
Sir Brian wrote to the Paymaster General about the eligibility of siblings in November. The Government has now changed the eligibility. You can read the announcement here.
