The Infected Blood Inquiry has commissioned a supplementary report from the virology and blood transfusion experts in the hepatitis expert group (convened by Professor Graham Cooke). The Inquiry has asked for further information about the viruses listed below.
The letter asks the group to provide specific information on clinical features, first identification, testing and screening, and risk reduction methods in relation to the following viruses:
- other hepatitis viruses: hepatitis A, hepatitis D, hepatitis E
- other retroviruses: human t-lymphotropic virus (HTLV)
- other viruses: cytomegalovirus (CMV), human papillomavirus (HPV), parvovirus
The letter also asks for information on primary biliary cirrhosis and hepatitis C in specific circumstances.
